Claudia–RIP
Sad times around the pond this week. Claudia, everyone’s favorite female cardinal, lost her life in a headlong crash into our foyer window. Her sad supine little corpse was discovered yesterday morning by my lovely bride as she checked outside for transient water birds. Claudia is survived by five spring issue erstwhile eggs and her loving spouse, Claude, who has suddenly and mysteriously disappeared. He is presently under no suspicion, but remains a bird of interest. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, mourners clean a statue in Claudia’s memory.
On a brighter note, the week’s bird count now totals at least 31 mallards, including a flock of 21 that favored us earlier in the week and the 10 that my lovely bride observed following yesterday’s grim discovery.
